South Fraser Perimeter Road

Approximately 40 km long, the South Fraser Perimeter Road is a new four-lane, 80 km/hr route along the south side of the Fraser River from Deltaport Way in southwest Delta to 176th Street (Hwy 15) in Surrey, with connections to Highway 1, 15, 91, 99, and TransLink. The route takes a significant step towards improving Metro Vancouver’s major road network. It benefits commuters, the trucking industry and tourists by connecting primary gateway facilities as well as facilitating access to border crossings, the Tsawwassen ferry terminal and the British Columbia Interior. EDI conducted wildlife and vegetation assessments along the proposed route, with emphasis on wildlife and vegetation at Burns Bog and other riparian systems. Specialized sampling programs were directed at wintering birds, Pacific water shrew, and sandhill cranes.
