Simon Fraser Bridge – Highway 97

This project, located on Highway 97, south of Prince George included the construction of a 400 metre bridge over the Fraser River. It formed an important component of the Cariboo Connector Program and highway 4-laning between the City of Prince George and Cache Creek, British Columbia. The bridge was designed by the Ministry of Transportation and included significant works, both in and over the Fraser River. Related infrastructure included the construction of a temporary work bridge and two large instream piers with the aid of coffer dam structures. Fisheries habitat compensation included riparian and instream works in a regionally significant salmon bearing stream. EDI provided environmental protection permitting relating to CEAA, the Fisheries Act and Water Act, and conducted compliance auditing during construction on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation.
