Canoe Creek Hydropower Project

The Canoe Creek Hydropower Project is on a tributary to the Kennedy River on the west coast of Vancouver Island. This is a 5 MW run-of-the-river power generation facility that discharges to the anadromous fish barrier. The project is majority owned by the Tla-o-qui-aht Indigenous community. EDI supported the Environmental Assessment through wildlife, vegetation, water quality, fish and invertebrate population studies and instream flow requirements, provided environmental monitoring and collected and analyzed data to support the long-term Environmental Monitoring Program. EDI also conducted operational hydrometric monitoring and Instream Flow Requirements compliance monitoring.
