EDI was contracted to oversee the relocation of Spencer Creek and Mainstone Creek within the footprint of a detached single-family subdivision in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Morningstar Homes had proposed a 68 unit subdivision on a 5.3 ha site. The reconstructed channel was enhanced to provide rearing habitat for coho and cutthroat trout, as well as low flow summer refuge pools. Off-site instream enhancement immediately upstream of the relocated area was designed to provide cover for juvenile coho as well as spawning and rearing habitat for cutthroat trout. Riparian enhancement included providing tree and shrub habitat to replace the existing reed canary grass habitat. EDI was responsible for permit submission, instream complexing, riparian planting, construction monitoring and fish salvages.
