Morningstar Homes proposed a 68 unit detached single-family subdivision on a 5.3 ha site in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. EDI was contracted to oversee the relocation of Spencer and Mainstone Creeks within the project footprint. The reconstructed channel was enhanced to provide rearing habitat for coho and cutthroat trout, as well as low flow summer refuge pools. Offsite instream enhancement immediately upstream of the relocated area was designed to further provide cover for juvenile coho and provide spawning and rearing habitat for cutthroat trout. Riparian enhancement included providing a tree and shrub habitat to replace the existing reed canary grass habitat. EDI was responsible for permit submission, instream complexing, riparian planting, construction monitoring and fish salvages.
