About this opportunity:

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for the position of Vegetation Ecologist, working with our terrestrial team on various projects throughout northern and western Canada. In this position, you will provide discipline leadership and collaborate with a team of project managers and biologists to provide practical solutions to our clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Conduct/lead vegetation surveys including vegetation inventories, listed plant species surveys, and invasive species surveys across Yukon and beyond
• Analyzing and interpreting data and preparing technical reports, memos and other project deliverables
• Assisting with the preparation of project budgets and proposals
• Preparing and supporting our clients with project assessment (YESAA) and permitting of their projects
• Data analysis and reporting
• Working effectively in a team environment to meet goals of the project productively and safely
• Participating proactively in EDI’s health and safety program

We are looking for someone with:

• The desire to grow their career in an established, employee-owned company
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with exceptional time management skills
• Knowledge of regulatory processes/applications and industry/market sector requirements
• Professional report writing and senior editorial and technical review skills
• The ability to conduct fieldwork in remote locations and/or travel between offices

Job requirements includes:

• A passion for your career and a desire for life-long learning
• An undergrad degree with 5 years of experience or a Master’s Degree with 3 years of experience in a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in one or more of:
o Terrestrial ecosystem mapping or land cover classification
o Rare plant, invasive, and vegetation surveys
o Wetland classification
• Registration or eligibility for registration as a RPBio or as PBiol considered an asset
