This position is a permanent full-time opportunity for a Intermediate to Senior Wildlife Biologist in our Whitehorse office. Remote working locations will be considered. As a Senior Wildlife Biologist, you will provide regulatory and technical support to project managers and clients in support of various projects. In addition, you will provide mentoring to staff and participate in business development initiatives. You will have mentorship and the opportunity to set the course for your career, including future business ownership opportunities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing guidance, training and direction to junior and intermediate team members to support successful completion of projects and development of the group
• Managing multi-disciplinary projects, including budget and schedule management, client liaison, technical leadership and coordinating project teams
• Business development, including developing and managing client relationships and proposal writing
• Directing environmental assessments, regulatory approval processes, environmental monitoring, and scientific and planning studies
• Preparing high-quality technical reports, including permits and regulatory documents
• Providing practical and effective solutions to clients
• Supporting and preparing regulatory approval and permitting applications
• Liaising with clients, stakeholders, Indigenous and jurisdictional governments to provide effective and responsible project advancement
• Supporting and preparing environmental protection and mitigation plans to facilitate regulatory approvals in concert with project teams and/or project managers
• Leading projects through a range of jurisdictional environmental review processes
• Participating proactively in EDI’s health and safety program

• The aptitude for working collaboratively and effectively with junior and senior staff of multiple disciplines, within teams on various projects of differing complexity, and with environmental subconsultants and government agencies
• The ability to recognize and incorporate into analyses both scientific and Indigenous perspectives

Job requirements includes:

• A Master’s Degree in a related discipline and 6 years of experience or a B.Sc. with 10 years’ experience focusing on wildlife management, wildlife baseline studies, environmental assessment and project planning and management.
• A professional designation (e.g., R.P.Bio., P.Biol., P.Ag.)
• Specialized expertise in wildlife biology and consulting expertise
• Strong knowledge of jurisdictional environmental assessment and decision-making processes
• Class 5 driver’s license
