If you are interested in salmon generally or, specifically, in aiding the recovery of salmon habitat after a wildfire, please visit the Pacific Salmon Foundation (PSF) website. There you will find the newly released Playbook to Guide Landscape Recovery Strategies & Priorities for Salmon Habitat Following Major Wildfires, also known as the Wildfire Playbook. Over the past two and a half years, EDI has provided PSF with assistance in the creation of both the Playbook and a companion catalogue of over 450 reference annotations, also available on the PSF website. Funding for this project was provided by the British Columbia Salmon Restoration and Innovation Fund (BCSRIF).
Bob Redden, Senior Advisor at EDI, explains that he and multiple EDI team members are pleased to have been part of such an important project, particularly given the recent fire situation in western and northern Canada. He also appreciates the focus of the documents on Pacific salmon, which are so very important culturally in BC. Bob states, “This Playbook represents a significant collaborative effort, by not only PSF and EDI, but also many agencies, First Nations, and consultants, who are all working toward the same goal of helping salmon recover in post-wildfire environments.”
EDI invites anyone who would like to discuss the content of the Playbook to reach out to our team via our Contact Us form on the EDI website.
