Intermediate Hydrogeologist

We have an immediate, full-time permanent position for an Intermediate Hydrogeologist with at least 5 years of experience, including hydrogeology or geology field experience, in our Prince George office (other locations will be considered). As a hydrogeologist, you will join our interdisciplinary team of water resources scientists and environmental professionals. You have a passion for water resources, are technically skilled in implementing and managing field programs, and apply your expertise to practical solutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Planning, organizing, and executing field programs, including supervising monitoring well installations, slug testing, packer testing, and borehole logging, well development, and surface water and groundwater sampling
• Field planning for projects including hydrogeology, water quality, and surface water monitoring, communicating and coordinating with clients, contractors, and interdisciplinary field teams
• Data management, analysis and interpretation, conceptual modeling
• Evaluating groundwater flow and chemistry data and conducting time-series and trend analyses, water quality characterization, and baseline hydrogeology characterization
• Analyzing and interpreting hydrogeological information and prepare hydrogeological technical reports
• Preparing workplans, cost estimates, assist with proposals, and assist in managing work schedules and controlling budgets within multi-disciplinary projects

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience and familiarity with hydrogeology and regulations in the Mining Sector in BC and Yukon
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities and ability to make timely decisions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to manage field documentation, analyze data and reporting experience
• Willingness to foster a professional, productive, and growth-minded work environment
• Able to simultaneously organize and manage tight timelines and multiple priorities
• Able to travel for fieldwork in remote locations and/or between our offices

Job requirements include:

• An undergraduate or graduate degree in geology, hydrogeology, geological engineering, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in a related field; preference will be given to candidates with environmental consulting experience
• Experience working safely in remote areas, and in variable weather conditions, including northern climates
• Professional registration, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Geoscientist (PGeo) or Professional Engineer (PEng) in British Columbia or Alberta
• Familiarity with common groundwater and other relevant software would be an asset (e.g., GoldSim, MODFLOW, AquiferTest, AQUACHEM, Leapfrog, R/RStudio)
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
• Participating proactively in EDI’s health and safety program
• Class 5 driver’s license

The typical compensation range for this position is from $69,000 – $110,000 annually; the compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
