About this opportunity:

EDI is seeking talented and self-motivated individuals to advise and provide environmental monitoring support for Projects during pre-construction, construction and post-construction. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for the position of Environmental/Construction Monitor. The role will support EDI’s Prairies team addressing construction projects throughout western Canada with a focus on renewable energy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Conducting site visits and compliance audits at active construction sites
• Conducting/assisting with data management, analysis and technical reporting
• Designing practical mitigation measures to reduce potential adverse effects on the environment
• Clearly communicating with technical specialists, regulators, Project developers and contractors
• Supporting development of regulatory submissions
• Leveraging technical knowledge to identify Project opportunities with existing and prospective clients
• Supporting other staff/projects within EDI; collaborate with the EDI team to execute proposals
• Participating proactively in EDI’s health and safety program

Job requirements includes:

• A minimum of 5 years of related experience (or equivalent)
• BSc degree in biology or related discipline(s); MSc degree or equivalent training and experience would be an asset
• Registration or eligibility for registration as RPBio, PBiol or PAg (CPESC also considered)
• Demonstrated experience leading field-based surveys and working with multi-disciplinary team
• Demonstrated experience in environmental monitoring of construction
• Demonstrated experience with Professional report writing and data analysis
• Class 5 driver’s licence; up-to-date safety training would be an asset
