Canoe Creek Hydropower Project

The Canoe Creek Hydropower Project is on a tributary to the Kennedy River on the west coast of Vancouver Island. This is a 5 MW run-of-the-river power generation facility that discharges to the anadromous fish barrier. The project is majority owned by the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation.

Our Role in the Project

EDI conducted environmental assessements, provided environmental monitoring and collected/analyzed data to support the Environmental Monitoring Program.  Our role included:

  • Supporting the Environmental Assessement required to obtain project permitting including wildlife, vegetation, water quality, fish and invertebrate population studies and instream flow assessment.
  • Operational hydrometric monitoring and Instream Flow Requirements (IFR) compliance monitoring.
  • Environmental monitoring for construction.
  • Data collection and analysis to support the long-term Environmental Monitoring Program.
